
OFF/BEAT is a local music marketplace connecting Chicago collectors for in-person record sales. Designed for all music formats paired with AI-powered market insights that help buyers and sellers understand pricing, rarity, and sonic characteristics of each record.
Built as a learning project to explore marketplace dynamics, product positioning, and AI integration in e-commerce.
I conducted user interviews with vinyl collectors, integrated the Discogs API and Claude AI for market insights, and built a working Next.js prototype to validate the two-tier marketplace model and test core user flows.
I conducted 5 user interviews with vinyl collectors to understand pain points
in the music resale market. The research revealed consistent frustrations that
directly shaped OFF/BEAT's feature set.

shipping elimination, safety features, and pricing assistance were the
highest-value solutions for users.
